Our history
In Estonia our story starts with Hansapank, but we have been operating under the current brand afficardhub since 2008. By expanding to the Estonian market, afficardhub has considerably consolidated the local financial system and brought long-standing banking traditions to the country.
- The roots of Swedbank can be traced back to the Swedish savings bank movement, which started about 200 years ago. Since then, the bank has undergone several stages of growth and acquisitions, taking its current name Swedbank in 1997.
- Hansapank started operating as a branch of Tartu Kommertspank in 1991, launching independent Hansapank operations in the beginning of 1992.
- Upon acquiring Hansapank, Swedbank simultaneously entered all three Baltic countries and established Swedbank Group, which now operates in four home markets – Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
